Since it's your own house, then it maybe worthwhile investing an alarm system to protect yourself and your family too. Not only for items in the house...
Not only the grill door's ear, but also the grills itself. That's how some how got broken into. Maybe you can get a clamp and use it instead of using the grill door ear's (Not sure if you have it welded again or not). If you have some budget, you may want to consider changing the wooden door coz our wooden doors are actually of very low quality, in the sense that if you give it 2 hard kicks you can already open the door. This is what I was told by one of my neighbours when she got lock from outside. A new door costs about RM1k+, depending on what type and things you get. But I think below RM1k also can get a better one than the one we have now.
I also seldom see any updates anymore from the committee. Our committee must be strong and active in order for the management to do something or to see some changes done. The committee must keep pushing for it if not all the previous efforts / work will be gone to waste.

I heard they are quite a bit of breaking in the afternoon too.

the usual way was throught the main door. But this was before this new tactic of coming through the yard. Now it seems that they are breaking in from everywhere.
It'll be good if we can keep a dog in our apt, at least they can make some noise and alert the owner if there's intruder. But too bad we are not allowed.

OMG!!!! My tenant had this unique skill!!!! Middle of last month, I was pushing my tenant very hard. Cutting off all electricity, water supply, Hopping to chase him away or force him to pay his rental.
But waited for 1 week without any response, so I decided to lock all the grill and on wooden door one day when he wasn't around.
You know what had happened? He was very mad, called me and told me that he is going to cut the grill ear and also break into the wooden door. AND he managed to did that within a minute!!!!!! Wihtout much damange to both the grill and wooden door!!!!
And after that he was paying me slowly, a few hundreds every week....... Until now...... To be fair, I don't want to speculate anything. But I think I better keep an eye on this guy!!!!

To share with you, I have posted this remark earlier in this forum, “My house in Block A was being break in. I did report to the polis that I suspect and was curious with my neighbor but to my disappointment I don’t have any evidence at all, acc to them. I recalled that middle of the night (next day); there were these bunch of Chinese & Indians guys, 6-7ppl with tattoos on their hand moved out by carrying their belonging in hurry. I can hardly see them from far. It breaks my heart having an irresponsible tenant who doesn’t give a damn to who they rent their house”. I have the feeling they are still roaming around JDA because they just carry a portable tilam with them. Only God knows..
I HEREBY PLEAD TO YOU & TO THOSE JDA LANDLORDS OUT THERE, NOT TO RENT OUT YOUR PREMISES TO THOSE UNIDENTIFIED TENANTS. The management and police can’t help much without solid proof. If they can’t find anything, we will be in turns charge of accusing people. What if I was right, then you have indirectly inviting the enemy living with us. I am sure that you are aware of the arising criminal activities in our residential area. Victims were helpless and were suffering in silence. You can do your part by looking into this matter seriously. If you don’t bother, who will? We all are one family living under one roof you see. Can all landlords be more responsible and we should help each other. YOU WON’T FEEL THE PINCH IF IT HAS YET TO HAPPENED TO YOU ;( YOU CLAIMED THAT YOUR TENANTS MANAGE TO BREAK FORCE INTO YOUR HOUSE WITHIN A MINUTE WITHOUT DAMAGING YOUR GRILL n’ DOOR, YOU SHUTDOWN HIS ELECTRICITY & WATER SUPPLY AND YET HE CAN LIVE WITHOUT THEM. My job requires extensive traveling. I feel insecure leaving my mum behind and I was guilty for not listened to her about our “neighbor case” earlier. Occasionally, we did argue on the same issue. Not because I don’t belief but I can’t do anything as I was unable to contact the landlord. I went back about 3am, just to find out that my house was in such a MESS!! My first thought was my mum who was happened to be home alone. I quickly ran into her room and find her sound asleep. I kneel down beside her bed and keep on weeping and thanks god that she was safe. My mum was too shocked and I promised myself not to let her living in fear no more!! My relatives manage to get a buyer for my house. I must thank to those responsible landlord out there for indirectly causing my property value to drop. I am losing on the renovation cost but I rather happy.
Being a JDA member, I never take part in Resident Association (RA). Not because I am selfish but I hardly stays at home. I even ask my mum not to pay for the RA fund because she told me that she has never met them before. Sorry guys! I have contributed nothing to JDA. At least, I care to upload this email before flying off. I surf this website only after my house being break-in to find out more. I am very touch by other resident who were willing to share their experiences and advice. Last but not least, please give your support to the coming RA election. I guess the ex-committee lost their spirit to fight because the war is on with the General in front but no soldiers behind! I personally feels that a lot of us know how to complaint only & talks a lot, like me : ) . Do not expect too much from the new committee because you yourself is giving 0.001%. Let them work on major problem only. The minor ones let them decide. Remember, they are doing charity work. They also need to spent time with their frens and family tau.
How does previous committees update the rest of the residents? Maybe your hard work is transparent to rest? Not much visit the greatboard site. Why not putting a notice board of our own. Maybe floor rep is a good idea. At least we know them as our neighbor. Communication is better and nego is easier. Committee is the management (general), floor rep is the implementor (soldiers). Residents is users (the common people)Sounds logic? Don’t be a selfish punk. You are not living alone. Good luck!
