Hi,
As i know that we need to provide TMNet our fixed line no. in order to register ourself.
Since there is no fixed line (Streamyx can not be installed on wireless phone) at our apartment, how we are going to register ourself?

Broadband Services 8) Sign up For Jaring Wireless Broadband. I got it since it was launch about 5 months ago. Their office is just inside Mimos. Check out the monthly fees at www.jaring.com.my

I think you're mistaken coz I've been using it since 5 months ago and i'm living on the 2nd floor btw.... :D

In case you dont want Jaring wireless, there are a couple of ways to go about it too as Telekom needs at least 50% of applications for land lines for the whole of Jalil Damai b4 they can actually set up the telekom's port along our main road.
Apply for Digi's Egde or Maxis's GPRS or Celcom's 3G....You will need all the neccesary adaptor's though.....

hi ocpd2000, how fast is your jaring download speed? kbps? stable in our area?
senyumsokmo- 06-05-2005
hi ocpd,
Thx for the info. I heard some folks in JD were already using wireless trx and were already getting quite good bandwidth.
Say, what's your UPLOAD speed like (this is better for baseline testing/benchmarking) on a normal day/night from jaring?
3G and GPRS connections are still pretty screwed around our area.
Ciao!

let me see.....
ummm...downloading speed varies from 38kbps on a very fine day to around 15kbps on a normal day although an occasional hiccup from Jaring may occur during really bad thunderstorm whereby the whole broadband may hang up but this is very rare.
Overall, I would say it is still acceptable but it is nowhere as stable or as fast as Streamyx ringgit for ringgit.
ocpd2000- 06-06-2005
P/S Not sure about the uploading speed though coz my Kazaa is down but it should be somewhere in the region of 10kbps to 15kbps.
senyumsokmo- 06-07-2005
10-15KBps on wireless...hmmm. I guess this is just as much Jaring can do for now. Not unless wimax service is up. But that's another chapter altogether..
Thx ocpd.

Well, theoretically Wimax would be the same as WiFi coz the difference being the reception radius only as WiFi's radius of reception is only 50 metres whereby Wimax will have a radius of 16 kilometres.
Therefore the difference between the both is 320 times.
senyumsokmo- 06-07-2005
Exactly. + /- got it working at around 18kms, I did one benchmark for a company outside MY I cannot name here and provided that the provider gets the correct configuration, stability is here to stay. And then with wimax you can channel GPRS and package 3G onto the same bandwidth thereby cutting downon latency probs.
Not to mention, I can then use mah mini xda as a server relay to my SOHO!

Hi all,
I am also a jaring wireless broadband user. Seem that a lot of SOHO in our apartment :D
Should we open another forum thread to gather all the soho in JDA??
cheers,
