dc- 06-09-2005

why not we get big multi-purpose satelite dish..... put between block a b c d e f. that way we not only get good tv, astro & internet cover but we oso get cover swimming pool. :D

dan- 06-09-2005

i am now staying in block d facing the swimming and using jaring wireless. The speed is very unstable and still testing only.

ccc- 06-09-2005

eh, u all sure u r on wireless broadband ah ? where got so low speed one. broadband suppose to be above 300kbps or 30kBps. anything below 100kbps is like dialup already, not worth the $$ to use. like tat might as well use digi edge or maxis 3g or celcom 3g lah, can better those speed most of the time.

dc.....i think the way you express yourself is utter rubbish. Grow up please, you are very irritating. Just my 2 cents...... :x

Broadband
Coming back on the subject of Jaring Wireless Broadband, it is still in its infancy stage. Anything above 64k is called a digital line, below that it is analog line. A dial-up is basically 9600bps (thats 9.6kbps). Even though a lot of providers are claiming at least 384kbps for downloading, this is only 4 service at their best. Since there's no other broadband providers for our area at the moment and TM land line lest Streamyx is still a long way to go for JD, I believe we have to live with Jaring Wireless at the moment. On the subject of Maxis's GPRS, Digi's EDGE or Celcom's 3G, this will be much better than Jaring Wireless as it is much more stable and faster than what I am using now (Jaring W/less) but think about the price of the adapter. You do the maths. However, if you dont need broadband as of now, you can go to any Kedai Telekom and apply for CDMA phone. This particular phone is just like any other analog phone but it has a modem built-in. The phone installer will decode this phone 4 you should you need to surf the internet. This is the same phone which the management is using. For Mr. Dan, I'm living at the 2nd floor of block C and the reception is quite acceptable coz i put the receiver high up on the edge of my balcony. I'm doing something like 38kbps d/loading on a fine day though.... 8) What about you? Where's the location of your receiver? P/S I've already registered for TM line since DEC 2004.

dan- 06-09-2005

ocpd, I just got it this afternoon. tweaking around the house but have limitation due to the ethernet cable,kekekekekekekkek...currently located on top of my computer table which is just besides the balcony door...i test it with mcafee speedometer and it seems like between 80kbps-150kbps. once in a blue moon it might shoot up to 300kbps...disconnected frequently and the wireless station is trying to look for signal... if u put high up on the edge of balcony, what about raining? how do you put on the edge?on top of ur aircon compressor??r u facing swimming pool as well???i believe those stay outward might get a better receptions due to the station based in south city and another one in summit square... as for the tm fixed line, i already register on feb..i also got a mail reply from tm stated that the fixed line will be done somewhere in sept. not sure how true is this...

hi ocpd, u must b IT expert :p I did dropped by the jaring / mimos shop @ mid valley last 2 mths. Their customer service officer told me that our area - Bandar Bukit Jalil is not under their coverage yet.. so.. that's the reason I didn't install the Jaring Wireless till now..... As for the CDMA phone, one of the Telekom staff told me, the line is not good as the normal one. Did anyone of u guyz installed it ? Any comment ?

comcrazy- 06-10-2005

Hi miki, I use the wireless fix phone for 3 months, and i will give the service 6.5/10. Luckily is a wireless phone, so can bring the phone running around the house to get better reception. Hi Dan, Jaring wireless is not stable for this few day. Normally it should be okie, ocpd2000 is right, try to place the terminal near the windows and high place. Based on the coverage map from jaring, the nearer the terminal to the Taman Bukit Jalil, the better the reception, personal opinion :D cheers, comcrazy

miki- 06-10-2005

Hi Comcrazy, How much u bought the wireless phone's modem ? As I know, it is non-refundable / returnable, rite ? When I went to Telekom last few mths, the customer services officer suggest me to wait for the fix line instead of the wireless one.....

dan- 06-10-2005

comcrazy, i agree on the placement of the wireless station but not very confident about the performance of this wireless. However, still testing. If not satisfy then perhaps can return in within 7 days and get full refund. The phone call quality is not bad though... :)

comcrazy- 06-10-2005

Hi miki, the wireless phone's modem have to rent from telekom. If you do not need a fax facilities, then telekom will give a telephone like terminal or else they give a modem like terminal. Basically you don't need to buy anything. Ya, most of the telekom guy will ask to wait, because our area actually is not under coverage either. I saw few telekom technicians are doing the wiring this few days. Maybe the phone like will be available soon. cheers, comcrazy

Broadband
Hi neighbours, To Miki, Thx for the compliment but I'm no IT expert at all, just nuts about computers and stuff like that, can't live without it 8) hehe.... T dan, i bought around 15 ft of ethernet cable at Low Yat Plaza at a cost of RM2.50 per foot run i think. :P This way I can somewhat adjust the wireless receiver to get optimum reception. No worries about rain though coz it is located between my foldable ladder out side my balcony with a piece of cloth nearly covering it. The ladder helps me in replacing any spoit lightbulbs at home too  On the subject of McAfee speedometer, i got very similiar speed to yours. But its quite stable, around 150kbps to 210 kbps. My unit is facing er... an empty piece of land but not the link houses, you know what I mean. Its Block B btw. To comcrazy, i like your ID very much :P and yes it is a bit shaky but still no hang up for me, phew........

dan- 06-11-2005

ocpd, i expected that ur unit is facing outward. I am facing the swimming pool and thats the reason it is not stable.. Block by Block C and block B... I think I will return it back to Jaring since it is very unstable. Maybe on Tuesday, will bring back to Midvalley.....

sowkh- 06-12-2005

ocpd2000, how u apply jaring wireless. I did go apply but the jaring ppl say the place dun have coverage.
