swimming pool Guys,
Answer few questions:
1. What is wrong wearing a head scarf to pool? what's so irresponsible about it? What expense do other tenants have here? If seeing someone in pool with a tudung turns somebody's intention OFF, then it's a personal issue which needs to be rectified. Trust me on this.
2. What assurity you have that people not wearing tudong are responsbile?
3. I'm sure you are expecting me to say what irresponsbile people do. Few in my opinion are: They kiss, hug or indulge in immoral activities inside the pool when the kids or families around. It's so disgusting and such a shame, i wonder how they passed their moral exam in school/college. Ooops did they go for one?
Let me tell you why i understand that t-shirts and short are not allowed in the pool. Very simple, they are usually Cotton fabrics which react with chemicals/salts in swimming pool. Cotton clothes tend to become brittle by losing their strands and colors shade off. One person not that big issue lah!, but hey, if few people jump into the pool then the output is, plain water accomodates these particles, hence loads up with the maintenance. Swimsuits are generally made up of synthetics such as Lycra or other elastic materials which are somewhat resistant to these chemicals. Hence it's SUGGESTED that people wear swimsuits to pool/sea.
Remember, our swimming pools are not meant for selective few. When you guys can accept it's open for JD residents, then you expect things like this to happen. Hence all the reason why it seems that the filter and cleaning agents are functional most of the time.
Yep, i strongly imply that people wearing non-cotton dress material/non-cotton tudong can still go to swim. It'll thus make maintenance eaiser and still protect the "Aurath" thingy. We can argue on the right attire non-stop, but remember anythin to do with attire is always suggestive in nature and subjective to change as time passes by.
We should not make a scapegoat of anyone nor offer pre-emptive judgments on any issue, but will ensure justice is served on all levels. By doing this, there will be a buy-in from all levels.

Thank you so much katml for the draft & for darric volunteering to re-do the draft. :D
As for the s/pool attire : once we have the mgmt put up notice on the s/pool attire than shouldn't be any problem with unproper attire & for the guard to do their job. Those that not following proper s/pool attire are mostly fr outside (esp those staying in flats nx door & btw I did complain to Dyhan on this matter & al usual during weekends those people still came in & picnic @ our s/pool)
For muslim ladies - there are proper swimming attire - like the surfers attire with swimming cap - due to the cost & no enforcement so no one really cares.

Q&A Hi Sallu,
To answer and question simultaneously.
I agreed ALL residents of JD is entitle to utilise the facilities. But please understand...there are rules & regulation though for all facilities.
If everyone intend to did the same, and follow anyone who did that, than question is....
1. where is the control?
2. what is the point of putting up the Rules & Regulation Board beside the pool?
Talk about "aurath"....
1. What's the point of swimming or having fun in the pool if you are afraid of wearing swimsuit or.... just cant change to proper suits?!
2.Dont you REALISE that every residents or outsider maybe watching you with "wet cloths" too??!!...
And also please note your statement #3.
It is out off this issue.
And note to everyone in this forum.
This is a forum to discuss ALL RELATED matter of JALIL DAMAI APT.
Not other else....
THANK YOU FOR YOU COOPERATION!!! :P

hey guys, don't point the issue to "tudung", "Aurath".
The issue here is "We should not wear anything other than a proper swimsuit".
:)
I think another reason why t-shirt is not allowed in the pool is because we don't know how clean is the shirt. example for children, after they play at the playground, sweating, shirt with mud, they can straight jump into the pool.
i m sure all of us like to see a clean water pool without mud right? :)

swimming pool Guys,
"Surfer's attire" and "proper attire" are excellent suggestions for all women irrespective of race/religion. Thanks guys. 8)
Katml : Read & assimilate my post properly. You should realise that your comments are not subjective to my questions.
However, lemme hint on the 2 take aways from my previous post...
"Any sort of attire that does not possibly pollute the pool shouldnt be stopped".
"We can argue on the right attire non-stop, but remember anythin to do with attire is always suggestive in nature and subjective to change as time passes by".
I'm certainly with you guys on all reasonable decisions which possibly stops every activity that pollutes the JD pool and its temporary residents. Whether it's attire/behaviour/security/environment/maintenance. Dont think i'm from an alien nation where people cover themselves fully with waterproof clothing to swimming pool. :)

ppl, sorry for the late reply. had a look at what u guys had pen-in earlier so i think perhaps the complaint abt the swimming pool attire may need some amendments. still waiting for responses from our muslim neighbours. any registered to this forum??? anyway, here's the proposed letter (sorry la... so long winded):
To:
Mr Dhyan (Supervisor)
Richman Consultants
(for and on behalf of Bukit Jalil Development Sdn Bhd)
2nd Floor Block B
Jalil Damai Apartments
Jalan 14/155C
Bandar Bukit Jalil
57000 Kuala Lumpur Date:
Dear Sir,
UNSATISFACTORY SERVICES
We, the owners/residents of Jalil Damai Apartments (“the Apartment”), wish to convey our utmost dismay at the management of the common properties, particularly as follows:
(i) LIFTS
- breakdown of lifts not attended to immediately. Please note that it causes much inconvenience for residents, especially the disabled, elderly and those living on the upper floors who rely wholly on the lifts to get to their apartment units. The apartments have only recently seen the influx of residents and yet the lifts have already been known to breakdown on a couple of occasions. It is surprising that your office attributes this to “lightning strike”. We believe that the authorities require the installation of lightning arrestors/isolators to all high-rise buildings, including the Apartment. Please advise us if the same has not been installed in order for us to bring this to the attention of the relevant health and safety authorities. The lack of such an installation does not only pose a danger to the lifts in the event of lightning strikes but also all electrical and household appliances of the residents.
- the apartments are supposed to be equipped with two working lifts. At the time of this letter, one of the lifts at Block B has not been operational since …………… . Please ensure that the stretcher lift is operational at all times as otherwise it would pose a hazard in cases of medical emergencies.
(ii) SECURITY
- the guards should be more responsible in carrying out their duties. Logbooks should be made available at the very least at the lift foyer of the ground floor of every block and the guards are to report in periodically. Please note that the guards are agents of the management and the management will be responsible for their actions and/or omission in carrying out their duties.
- the guards should be more proactive in ensuring the security of the residents. They seem unsure how to handle emergencies. Police had to be called in during a recent fracas between two residents of the Apartment. It is to be observed that the guards’ duty is not merely confined to ensuring who comes in and out of the main entrance.
- in view that no intercom service is provided, a telephone should be made available at the main guard house and the number be made available to all residents in case of emergencies. Arrangements should also be made with the service provider to ensure that only calls in are permitted to avoid misuse and abuse.
(iii) USAGE OF THE SWIMMING POOL
- for the hygienic reasons, the use of t-shirts and (track) pants should be strictly disallowed (note: need to get feedback from our muslim neighbours. This may in effect constructively bar them from using the pool).
- the pool lights have on a number of occasions been detached from their fastenings. Pool lights should at all times be waterproofed to avoid contact between the electric wires and water. As the safety of the residents should be the priority of the management, please ensure such incidences are minimised and/or eradicated altogether.
- the tiles around the pool becomes slippery when wet. Whilst it is acknowledged that it is somewhat of an impossible task to expect the Developer to take responsibility to have the same replaced, perhaps adequate signs should be put up to warn users of the dangers to avoid accidents.
- only residents and their guests should be allowed to use the swimming pool. It is acknowledged that at times distinguishing between residents, guests and outsiders may pose a problem. However, I believe guests should be registered at the guardhouse and residents have their residents card. Guests should not be allowed use of the facilities without being accompanied by their host-resident. If in doubt, guards should verify status of guests with residents.
(the above list is compiled based on personal observation and complaints gleamed from the forum. If anyone has any other general grievances i.e. with regard maintenance of common properties, please feel free to do so.)
We sincerely hope that the above grievances are addressed and attended to soonest possible.
In cooperation,
…………………………
(name)
together with ……… present resident-occupiers of the Apartment

Darric: On the "Usage of swimming pool", the letter looks fine. I suggest, We may stop with this line "- for the hygienic reasons, the use of t-shirts and (track) pants and all cotton garments should be strictly disallowed."
Please mind and stop all updates to it on inclusion of race/caste/creed/religious references or sentiments.
Are you also going to add behavioural aspects? I defintely dont want someone to jump on me/throw ball at me/stare as if i'm being X-rayed while swimming in pool  The whole idea of going to swim is to relax and occasionally exercise and fun.
How about these lines?
"Have a guard who knows CPR and rescue techniques to tackle drowning cases atleast on weekends". There is NO substitute for adequate supervision.
"No smoking, running, pushing, or horseplay in or near the pool"
"Shower before jumping into pool"
"No person infected with a communicable disease or having open sores on his or her body shall enter the pool. "
'No glass container onto the deck or into the pool"
"No person shall pollute the water in the pool in any manner and that spitting, spouting of water and blowing the nose in the pool or on the deck is not allowed"
Good work guys!. Let's gear up and get this thing enforced. 8)

sallu, sorry for not making it clear... the text in italics was meant for discussion and will not form part of the letter proper. thanks for your feedback. i don't know whether it was added with a tinge of sarcasm but some of those lines sure sounds necessary. and if we were to compile a list of dos and don'ts, better make it comprehensive. anyway, anyone had a good look at the notice by the swimming pool?
mrs dass- 05-18-2005
:D let's not argue the issue on swimming pool attire. Everyone is sensible enough in knowing what to wear and wear appropriately.
let's all respect each others views and live harmoniously. At the end of the day, this is our neighbourhood. Lets live harmoniously........

super apes drinking -OH near pool. Thanks Mrs Dass...Seems most of us share the same thoughts on attire.
I witnessed this "law of jungle" act about 9.00pm, sunday night.
3 "Super Apes" were found drinking -OH (glass bottle eh!) and Teh tarik whilst swimming. One of them went high and broke the glass bottle...Pieces of glass were strewn all over the shower area and INSIDE the pool...One of the swimmer made a distress noice thus provoked 1 of this super ape company to talk non-sense. The whole drama went on for few minutes and was a bit loud one. Our super duper security guards were sympathising with this ape instead of telling it what's wrong.
Guys just be careful and make sure the place near shower area and pool has been cleaned b4 u guys jump into pool. Reason: It'll take a while to realise a sharp cut in the water.
dc- 06-02-2005
wah, they so super la. i swim oso susah. they somemore can swim & drink at same time!!!!!
darric ong- 09-19-2005
