It seem the we really have security problem, today there are 3 more unit being break in which is 3, 7 and 13. I really don't whether "they" stay in or out side JDA it seem they have all our grill key.

You all need to strengthen the grill welding and get additional thick metal tab to hold the lock.

I heard from the guard the same thing happened to other block for past 2 day. Please watch out.

I heard there was a break in yesterday at Block D. But they only managed to catch 1 of the guys. The other one got away. Apparently they didn't know there was someone inside the apartment.

Also, last week when the guards caught another separate thief, they found a whole bunch of keys with him. Probably that explain how they could have gotten access into the apt.

Please take extra precaution.

There was also breakin in Block C on my floor. Two units were broken into, the door grill was pried with the lock still in place. I believe it happened around in the evening from 7-9pm.
The thieves probably tested and surveyed the area first as my mom mentioned someone pressing our doorbell to see if anyone was home last week. When she opened the door, no one was there.
For the last couple of weeks, no guard was stationed at the ground floor. Asked the security guard who came to check on the units, he said only 5 of them working! This is bad..

That's what I also found out last night when one of the guards told me. I had thought that a guard is to be stationed at the entrance of every block??

The guard mentioned that if we see any suspicious people loitering at our floors, please inform them immediately. He mentioned that they do not allow people to conduct survey and such to come in. I remembered sometime last month or so, 2 chinese guys came to do survery on opening a hypermarket. Not sure if they are for real or just checking out.

It's good to get to know who is staying at your own floors so that you would know if any suspicious people are at your floors. What about card access doors at the entrance of the block? With that, only residents for the block can enter. It may be costly to install (or not, I'm not sure), but if it can help reduce / prevent break ins, I think its good to consider. Afterall, its for the safety or all. Right now the doors are always open which allows easy access to anyone. Plus, the fence are not exactly high as I've seen a number of people climbing over to go in and out.

Supposed there shd be someone stationed downstairs, but not for the last few weeks. Anyway people can still take the lift from the 1st floor carpark.
Access cards have been suggested quite a while ago and i think the committee had pushed this idea to the management. Not sure of the outcome.
Do you have the telephone number of the guard post?

I think even if the guards are stationed at the entrance, it won't make much of a difference. 'Coz I often see the guards dozing off. Can't blame them too much as it's pretty boring and hot to be sitting there all the while. Plus, people can just pose as residents and just walk pass. Hence the access door would be a good things (for now) as it'll only allow JDA residents to have access.

Dsee, you mentioned that the idea was suggested to the management but not sure what's the outcome. By the way, is the committee still active? Haven't heard any updates from them for a while. Any idea what's going on or if the committee is still active?

Oh yes, you asked for the guard post number. There's actually a list of phone numbers posted at the notice board of our block which may be useful.

Thanks.

2 units on 2nd floor. They must have real professionals to hit two units at once.

In reply to Renee, totally agree that having access card will be better. Firstly tht card will be used to drive into the apartments. Any other cars without will have to register with the guards. Then access points at the lifts. Fire escape doors can only be opened from the inside. This will make it more safer, although not 100% foolproof, the guards will still need to do their rounds. Finally after the break ins, saw a guard stationed downstairs at Block C.. wonder for how long though....
Not sure whether our committee is active or not. Perhaps we can do our part and complain directly to the management as well.

Access card system will help prevent until a certain extent. Will also depend on a lot of other factors (like alerting the guards if there are any suspicious people at our own floors and etc.) to really make it a safer place. But at least better to start somewhere than none.

The last update I read from committee was on Jan 12 2006. Afterthat, no more. I think we need to keep pushing the idea to the management in order for them to do something. As you know if it's not follow up after a time, people also tend to forget about it or don't care. Also, at least management knows we are serious in making this a safe place to stay. It is pretty scary and terrible to have so many apartments being broken into.

As for the guards, maybe they should employ a few more? As dsee mentioned that there were only 5 working at sometime. How can we expect 5 guards to take care of the whole of JDA? It's really just to little. If every block were to have 1 guard stationed at the entrance, who's left to take care at the main gate?

Miki, which floor are you staying at? I presume you are in Block E? Can you please let us know how they gain access to your place? Did they cut the grill or just pry open the lock? I heard from one of the guards, when they caught one of them, they found a whole bunch of keys with the guy.

Thanks Miki.

hi Renee,

I am staying at 11 floor.

They cut off our grill lock's ear and don't know how are they able to open our wooden door without any damages.. fyi, we are using the original gril & wooden door lock. This might explain all. I guess it happen during the day time as we only found out in the late afternoon.... 6+. They only searched for our rooms and didn't touch anything in other area. When we were making the police report in the police station, the officer sounds very familiar with our area.... as she just been here 2 weeks before we make the report...... she even know the Block C, D & E is facing KL view....
Shocked

Hi Miki,

Thanks for the info. Are you renting or it's your own place? If it's your own place, maybe you can consider installing alarm system?

Since you are using the original locks and it was not damaged, this could mean that it is a insider's job that has access to the keys. They had to cut off the grill lock ear probably because they do not have the key to your lock. A lot of people have mentioned that our grill door and locks are actually of very low quality, which I totally agree.

I don't think our committee is active as I've posted a message requesting for some updates under the committee update section, but still got no reply at all which leads to my next questions-----> Is there a committee anymore?

Renee,

It's our own house. We are using our own pad lock, but it's very easy to cut off the grill door's ear .... We have change our wooden door lock now. I have one of the committee contact number.. but i am not sure whether is he still our committee, he is staying at our block. Anyway, i seldom heard there is any updates from them nowaday.... Sad
